Gang solution

Hey Ed, most of our New Jersey cities have serious gang problems. I saw on NJN news that Atlantic City is building, expanding and turning into a very beautiful city. How are they keeping the gangs out? The casinos don’t want them around ruining business. Maybe we can learn something from them to keep the gangs out of Trenton, chase them out and keep them out.

So you want to build some casinos in Trenton? I like this idea. Get Donald Trump on the phone, I want to talk to him. Maybe he’ll call it the Trump Barracks or the Trump House. Let it ride!

Ed. Why is this a constant question not only in Trenton, but throughout the state. The gang problem only exists, because law enforcement allow it to exist. The justice system panders to this criminal element by making is very easy and convenient for them to committ and continue to committ these heinous crimes against the community at large, by hiring their slick talking, high priced attorneys. Answer this, if a suspected or known gang affiliate was picked up, questioned, found guilty or even set free, why don't they attach a bracelet to his/her ankle? One thing for sure. The bracelet would let law enforcement know where they were and the other gang members would avoid him/her like the plague. Also, if a crime was committed and that gang or suspected gang member was in the area, law enforcement would certainly want to know why. Another thing, why isn't anyone being charged as conspirators? It takes more than one to be deemed a gang, yet so many seem to be pointing fingers and being allowed to walk or serve less time. One more thing, where do gang members get their money? Are these vast amounts of money they carry being verified by way of employment?
How do they live? Where did they get that car, etc. Law enforcement should start cracking down on the constant stream of money that seems to always be available to them. The revolving door called incarceration in New Jersey must stop. They all go the same way. Juvenile detention, after their old enough, state prison, and eventually federal prison. They keep in touch, long enough to plan and have more crimes committed. Why? Perhaps if they were separated, some of the crime would cease. Now they have nothing but years to sit and ponder how to do it again. My point being, send someone away on some real time. Such as, forty years, and I mean every minute of forty years. No such thing as time served or early release due to good behavior or being model prisoner, send them away. Places such as Folsom, Pelican Bay,Marion Ohio. Send some of these bad boys out there for ten to twenty years away from their homies and take a look at some of those letters coming back home. I bet good money, attitudes will change regarding law breaking activities. As things stand now, it just a vacation for them, nothing more nothing less. They all remain together, being fed by the state or federal government, when decent people work and supply the money, that allows their vacation to go on. Last but not least, we don't need to recruit any more soldiers. Bring the soldiers home. We have plenty of guys, young guys who don't want to do anything but fight. Hell, let them fight. Ship them out, let them fight someone who really wants to fight them back. Then you'll see how many of these bad boys, really want to be in a gang.
