Joba grew up in poverty in Nebraska, and his father was born on a Winnebago reservation. That’s the Winnebago Indian tribe, not some kind of camp for large RVs. Joba’s ascent through the Minor Leagues was meteoric. He played only eight games as a member of the Trenton Thunder, in between stints at single A Tampa and triple A Scranton.
