Cop out

Hey, Ed, I’m calling about Palmer’s statement about the police officers’ four-on-four-off work schedule. He said it was implemented because they wanted to work with the police union. That four-on-four-off schedule was given to the police so we would not sue the city for a lot of overtime pay owed us for the illegal scheduling we worked, according to the federal government. And it did reduce sick time. Please print that so people know what’s in the paper is an out and out lie. My name is Russell, and I’ve been a police officer over 33 years.

Wait a minute. You mean we shouldn’t believe what politicians say?—Ed. Note

Russel is correct and I hope people not only read this but take it to heart. Law enforcement in the city have frequently taken a bad rap as far as being available and response time to citizen complaints. Now finally we see who is really behind most if not all of the undetected crimes being committed in the city. PALMER. Fact is the citizens, who pay taxes in this city need help. We need our police to be available to our needs and emergency response situations. However, PALMERS game of politics and favoritism has to be not only acknowledged but put to account. Overtime be damned, any police officer who literally puts his life on the line in the name of law enforcement and crime prevention should have any and all available resources and benefits at their disposal. If PALMER, can find any reason why they can't or should not, perhaps their union should ask PALMER some questions about why their membership is being manipulated and obviously overlooked.
