King Park a disgrace

Hi, Ed, I’m concerned about the condition of Martin Luther King Park off Southard Street. It looks more like a city dump than a city park. It’s a disgrace with Martin Luther King Day coming up. Children can’t even play there, it looks so bad. Doug Palmer really needs to fix this. I don’t know where our tax dollars are going — to take care of his house, for his family? Because they are not taking care of our city parks or city streets.
Park King
Maybe cities across the nation can honor Dr. King tomorrow with un-dedication ceremonies to remove his name from all the parks and boulevards that represent the opposite of his legacy. —Ed. Note

If the legacy of Dr. King is being disrespected it's because Palmer has no use for the celebration. His previous sugary sweet speeches and photo opportunities, were designed to serve his purpose not Dr. Kings. I find it interesting that every street, park, recreation center, health care facility, soup kitchen or learning center that's named after Dr. King has been allowed to deteriorate. I don't see this as just a set of circumstances. It's a deliberate plan. A plan to disrespect him and his legacy, and none of us can allow this to happen. We have a responsibility to always honor his name. Yet, here we are, disrespecting the mention of him anywhere his name is displayed. This my friends is one of the direct responsibilities of any Mayor in any city. To allow this to happen is just another show of disrespect to a real man that not only could but did make a change for the better in this world and certainly deserves respect.

I'll answer that question for you. Palmer is allowing not just King Park but most of the city to deteriorate because, as you stated it doesn't serve his purpose. Palmer's through with Trenton. He's well on his way to what he really wants. A bigger name and a bigger title. Figure it out, if Palmer has any true plans for the future of this city, why would he always be somewhere else? Living somewhere else and working somewhere else? It's about time the crazies who voted for him realize that they, as are the rest of us, Palmer's pawns. This city has been allowed to become blighted so that many of Palmer's new developer friends can get flipped properties which will continue to line their pockets at the expense of our lives.
