Beware, Verizon

Ed, everyone who has Verizon for their telephone service should check their bill for a charge of $14.95 for ESBI. It showed up on mine. I called ESBI on their 800 line and they tried to convince me that I had ordered this on the Internet. I had never heard of this company and still do not know what they really do. After a few minutes of hassle, they agreed to remove this charge. Why is Verizon accepting charges from them and passing them on to me and others as part of the Verizon bill? Check your phone bills before paying them.

It’s good advice in genera. Check all your bills carefully. People are getting shafted all the time. Regardless of whether it’s “deliberate,” big companies are making big money every day off lax customers. —Ed. Note

Nice post. I would add as well that it's equally crucial to scrutinize your wireless bills. I'm sure most people can attest that they found some mysterious charge on their bill at some point. For those tired of dealing with gimmicky surcharges on wireless bills at least, I wanted to mention that I work for the consumer advocacy website http://www.fixmycellbill.com, powered by a company called Validas, where we slash the average cell bill by 22 percent. Validas acts as the wireless bodyguard protecting you against frivolous charges that over-inflate 8 out of 10 cell bills. You can find out for free if fixmycellbill.com can modify your wireless plan to better suit your usage by going to the website.

For more info, check out Validas on Fox News at http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/consumer/conlaw/lower_cell_phone_bills_072409 .

Good luck to everyone reading on cutting your wireless costs, especially in this tough economy.

Check your P.S.E.& G. Bills also, they are doing a great job taking advantage of customers. The bills get higher every month, whether you pay them or not. I will give the watchdog group a call and see what if anything can be done.

My friend worked for Verizon. He said they work their employees to the brink and they're burned out after 2 years. These employees leave the company and Verizon just hires more people in their place. They have NO CONCERN for their employees. They want to make money any way they can and they aren't afraid to play dishonest. BEWARE of tacked on charges. I would NEVER use Verizon for many reasons.
