Flyers doomed
Well, it's over. The Flyers were wiped off the playoff board last Sunday when the Penquins shut them out, 6-0. Despite the loss, I can't be unhappy about the season. Considering the Flyers were the worst team in the league, by a lot, last year, making it to the Eastern Conference finals is not too bad. At least they made it an exciting season. You couldn't say that about last season.
Congrats to the Boyertown girls' lacrosse team that won its fifth straight PAC-10 title. That team has been a consistent winner since the 1970's. You got to hand it to all the coaches in that team's history. They have develop a dominant program that shows no sign of faltering. Pam Wernersbach is the latest to guidt the ship. She has done nothing but win league titles since she took over. This year's team is led by Maggie Tamasitis, who is Boyertown's all-time leading scorer in lacrose. Not a bad accomplishment considering the quality players that have played for the Bears in the past. She's heading to Notre Dame next year and will probably continue to be one of, or the best player on the Fighting Irish team. They advanced to the District 1 semifinals last season, and are now trying to improve on that, by at least two more wins.
