C'ville Cop Appears in Court
The off-duty Coatesville officer accused of choking and hitting a 17-year-old male appeared in district court today.
The attorney for Claude Simpkins revealed during the hearing that Simpkins was asked to resign Friday to avoid getting fired. Defense attorney John Duffy criticized Coatesville Police Chief William Matthews for allegedly forcing Simpkins out of the department without first conducting an investigation into the June 18 incident.

the kids deserved what they got wether out of line or not! the drugs in this complex are ridiculous! especially when a unit gets bustd and they still live here! if westtown would do more patrolling things like this would never happen!
Vigilante justice is never "deserved." How would you like it if a police officer suspected you of dealing, and started choking you? In America we're innocent until proven guilty- and for better or worse, only the courts can make the final determination.
