Blame the Teachers

Ed, this is to the Hamilton Township residents. When your next property tax bill shows an increase don’t jump on Mayor Bencivengo. Look at the greedy bloodsucking teachers and the school board. The Hamilton Township teachers have just received a 4 to 5 percent raise in their contract with no change in their benefits. Don’t they realize how most people in this township are struggling? They live in big fancy houses, drive fancy cars, get paid for unused sick days, retire at 55 with their health benefits paid in full, and only work 180 days a year. On top of that they vote for Jon Corzine for governor. How dumb is that? You will never convince me they are underpaid. But the teachers are never satisfied. It has got to stop.
Enough
Well, they say you get what you pay for. Who said that anyway, a teacher?—Ed. Note

What you are not saying is that they did have to give back other benefits in order to get that %...they have to pay more to get those same health benefits, etc. --they're not free. There were other givebacks too. The 4% is deceiving to take out of context.

I'm a teacher, I don't live in a big fancy house, I drive a honda, if that's what you consider a big fancy car and unless I hit the lottery, will probably have to wait until I'm 75 to retire. Spend one day in a school taking abuse from students, parents and taxpayers like yourself and maybe you'll have a different take on things. I'm not looking to get rich. If I were, I'd become a lawyer instead of a teacher. I'd would, however, like to raise my family in an average way just like everyone else. Take your anger out on the county execs that make the big bucks and leave hard-working middle class people alone.
