Where's Tommy?

Ed, people who listen to New Jersey radio station 101.5 please help me find out what happened to Tommy G. The Tommy G show at 11 o’clock has not been on the air for the last three weeks. I am hoping someone can tell me why. We need to get him back on the air so we can find out what is going on with the election and the candidates. He doesn’t bite his tongue, he speaks the truth. I hope he is just on summer vacation and will be back. Call in if you know.
Dead Air
Well, his photo is off the Web site. And they’re filling the late-night slot with re-runs of Dennis and Michelle’s daytime show — which makes for confusing radio. I tuned in at midnight Thursday to hear that “it’s a beautiful sunny day today.” Disorienting.—Ed. Note

Here's the e - mail reply I got back from NJ 101.5.

The difficult economic climate has affected the advertising sales market and sadly the entire radio industry (along with just about all other industries in New Jersey and America.) New Jersey 101.5 and Millennium are not immune to today's economy and unfortunately layoffs occurred here last week.

Tommy G and 6 other employees from the company were laid off.

We know you are a fan of the show, and we appreciate that you were a
loyal, dedicated listener of Tommy since 2004. We are sorry for this
void from your radio...we certainly do understand your feeling of anger
and loss.

Tommy will not be replaced. This week we will start doing same day
playbacks of "Dennis and Michele" 'till 2am, and then "The Jersey Guys"
until 5am. The "Best Of" broadcasts from earlier that day will also
include fresh live traffic, weather and news reports.

Again we are sorry for the loss, and appreciate that you took the time
to write.

It says Tommy G. was laid off and will not be replaced. Tommy G was the best and I really enjoyed him. As a person who worked nights I will miss his very entertaining show. Listening to CD's are my new option because the re plays from the days are terrible. Talking about sunshine in the middle of the night is just stupid.

I don't understand if you're in the talk radio business how you don't have money for talk hosts. A very big mistake by 101.5 unless they are getting ready to go all sports like they did with 97.3. The big draws like Craig Carton and Judi Franco are gone and now no money to keep a very good talk host like Tommy G tells me somethings may be up with NJ101.5. All NJ sports maybe.

theres one reason tommy g is no longer on 101.5 its called extremely poor management.to get rid of an entertaining talent and hang onto a nasaly, whining, annoying host,is pure foolishness.then to try to fill the time slot with best of reruns is senseless you have probably lost a large percentage of that listening audience.you might as well just play country music for those few truckers that are just passing through.if millenium radio is trying to keep101.5 alive they should look closely at who they have running that station, and seriously start replacing the management, not the talent.we are people of the night ,and we dont want to hear daytime radio in the dark.

It's sooo depressing, first obm's afternoon guy's, Steve Paul and Kevin Williams, I know Kevin's still there, but I loved listening to the two of them play off each other, amazing radio, Steve i miss you so much, what a natural. Now on top of it Tommy G's gone, what's going on. I may have to stop listening to NJ radio altogether, who wants to listen to politics day in day out, ugh...katyk

As a loyal fan of the radio station laying off Tommy G is a huge mistake. I listen to the radio on and off durng the day but always listened to TG at night. I feel that other means of curving lay offs should not have included TG. I feel that 101.5 has not only laid off TG it just lost a loyal fan of the radio station. BIG MISTAKE MILLENNIUM BIG MISTAKE. GOODBYE!!!!!!!!

I did enjoy listening to Tommy G, but I can understand 101.5's decision - the late night was arguably the weakest demographic. I guess sometimes it really is just that simple.
He was an honest host, and there were some colorful characters that called in. He'll be missed, but I don't doubt we'll hear him somewhere again soon. (Tommy - start a website or something to keep talking. You'd do well.)

Tommy G. is a natural at late nights. Those of us who work it miss him terribly. NJ101.5 is granted a license to serve the community including late night. They should have cut the budget elsewhere because now the people out at night are not being served. If they can't serve the community let them turn in their license. When Tommy G was there at night people have been helped and saved besides being very entertained by his outgoing personality. There is only one Tommy G bring him back or get out of the radio business. The nights now in NJ are very boring without Tommy G.

First 101.5 can't pay Craig Carton so he leaves, then Judi Franco leaves and now Tommy G. what a shame what has happened to that radio station. I stopped listening altogether and if that was their goal it is a sorry one. They need to turn in the license to operate that radio station to someone who can run it better.
