Coming tomorrow: L.A. Parker on Newark killings

Coming in tomorrow's Trentonian, columnist L.A. Parker tackles the media swarm around the execution-style killings of three students in Newark.

"Every report refers to the three dead students and wounded survivor, Natasha Aeriel, 19, as 'good' kids," Parker writes. "The inference in the description is that if they were 'bad' children then somehow we could all handle the the quadruple shooting and triple killing. If they were 'bad' kids we could all head back to the beach, TV, or bar with exclamation that all is right in our world. It’s not."

Parker argues that anger at Newark Mayor Cory Booker is misplaced.

"Mayor Booker can only say so much, attempt so much and do so much to effect change in Newark," he writes. "The realization is that black people must accept responsibility for our share of a daily deadly destruction. At some point, we must stand and say — enough."

Only a dirt bag race monger like L.A. Parker can twist a compliment into a racial slur. The fact is that these were good kids on the streets of Newark. And as soon as they got out of college, they'd get out of Newark. It has nothing to do with color. Parker is out of control. I realize you can't fire him because that would be seen as a rascist reaction. I think I will start reading the Times... Does Katherine Graham still run the place over there?

What makes Parker assume that black people did the shooting? Doesn't he lambast us when we make similar assumptions? There is no room for his rascists rants. Dump the guy. No self respecting Halibut would allow himself to be wrapped in the L.A. Parker column!

Over the years, I've read several of L.A.Parkers commentaries, and must admit on some levels, I was in agreement. On this one,he should be ashamed. For too many years the public has automatically assumed that any and all crimes were committed by hispanic or African Americans. It fed their evil minds to accuse who, they deemed to be the usual suspects. However since those ignorant deep psychologial racist projections cannot be uttered by certain individuals they allow media dogs like Parker to do their dirty work. Fact is, those students were just that, students in every sense of the word. They did what they were supposed to be doing, at all times and excelled in their studies in an atmosphere that was neither safe nor conducive to any form of educational success. Nonetheless Parker used this tragic criminal act to try to further feather his own cap. Parker continues to fall for the image that he's some sort of journalist genius, who reports in such a way that the stories hit home to each and every reader. Not true.Parker is their own personal Sambo, who is allowed to get their comments out, but not use their names. He's willing to take the negative comments regarding his writing, because he claims it as his view on the issue or story. Popular to public opinion all crimes are not committed by poor, black, hispanic, mexican, haitian etc. people. None of these people are CEO's of large companies who have the power to steal pensions and ruin lives while wearing a $2000.00 suit, or support conflict diamond purchases, because of the way they are devalued in this world. As much as I would like to see him fired, he'll be the last one to go. After all,he's doing such a GOOD job.
