Will it take Newark-style crime to wake up Trenton?

Trenton Mayor Doug Palmer's comments about the horrific execution-style killings of three students in Newark are important as the city grapples with its own problems.

The Newark case (click here for latest update) hits home in these parts because, as unimaginably horrible a crime as it is, it's not much of a leap at all to think that it could have happened right here in Trenton. The pages of The Trentonian are filled daily with godless violence that gives the impression the city borders on chaos some nights.

What will it take to get some real action to bring our personal mayhem under control? A spectacularly high-profile crime like the Newark case?

Trenton has experienced crime of unimaginable evil, yet the recent horror in Newark, brings more than tears to our eyes. When two little girls die in their beds due to gang violence, the a Newark type crime only serves to wider the whole left in our hearts. When another child is shot in the face, yet another Newark type crime. The truth is when will we stop looking to what should be obvious to solve our problems. Palmer and Santiago either cannot or don't deem it to be important enough to be hands on regarding the safety of Trenton citizens, specifically the students. There's so much blood spilled on a regular basis that we've almost expected to see the front pages of our paper announcing someone else has been hurt or murdered due to some senseless crime. This happens so often that you almost have to become numb in the wake of so much blood being spilled. Yet, we cannot afford to live in a city referred to a Blood Bath Boulevard. The Newark School tragedy is expected at any given time in the Trenton School District. There is nothing in place to deter any thug or maniac who decides to committ a horror of this nature. For years its been noted that our schools are no more than places to house our children under the guise of educating them. Yet, everyone has become painfully aware that it's exactly what's not being done. Either educationally, or spending a great deal of the budget on security measures that are realistic to todays atmosphere. Louder than most districts,Trenton screams,we need money, our budget is tight. Money to buy supplies, employ additional security, secure monitors and camera in the halls and insure overall safety in and outside the buildings along with additional learning supplies. When infact the money is spent on travel to foreign countries, looking for educational ideas to improve learning in Trenton Schools. With all the repetative talk in the school system, poor money management, travel vouchers for the board members and violence raging everyday in the district, do you think some of the main powers that be along with the Mayor and his coveted Police Director will have a specific plan in place to protect our children? Historically, the Trenton School District has been reactive instead of proactive. However, this way of thinking usually comes after great horror and needles suffering. If nothing else the message coming from Newark is to be prepared. For Trenton, this lesson has been harder to learn than their A,B, C's.

Mayor's Palmer and Booker, there is a serious effort to refocus the attention of the true problem, however as more people are shot weekly our leaders like yourself are going to have to face the real music.

But it amazes me how this whole situation is being turned into something else but what it really is all about. The out cry about immigration isn't come from our streets. Our outcry is that no one is helping to put a stop to the killings in the Black and Latino communities.

Our babies are being killed in the streets and these people in power still don't seem to get it.

Immigration has been a problem in America since the 1600's. And the injustice within this justice system has been a problem in America from it's roots. These people in government need to give us a break.

The killings of our babies two weeks ago here in Newark and the killing this past week is what we should be talking about. As well as the shootings taking place in Trenton.

When are the both of you, the Governor and State officials going to truly address that real issues. It seems that you all are only looking for a way out of what truly need to be dealing with.

It's easy to place the attention on immigration.

These people who are murdering our babies and that have no respect for what you elected officials and what these preachers have to say.

We need to began to hear from people who have a proven track record with this population in New Jersey.

Last year the state canceled the contract with one of the most effective programs that was working with and changing lives of thousands of these individuals within the prisons, schools, and streets.

How do I know, because the program changed my son's life. He was a true headache if you know what I mean.

But, Emmanuel Shahid Avraham and his group changed my son and many others lives.

So it didn't surprise us that the evil forces within the Corrections Department wanted to put a stop to his efforts.

What needs to happen if yourselves, the Governor and the officials are serious about this problem is PLEASE call on Emmanuel Shahid Avaraham; and get together to work aggressively on this situation and turn it around.

He is a former graduate of Newark Central High School. One of our favorite son's.

Be careful Mayor Booker of those around you from Newark who doesn't want you to truly know Shahid Watson, because he has very true and strong street credit in Newark, thats his roots. If you have Emmanuel Shahid Avraham, you won't need those who don't want you to rebuild Newark with his help. I must warn you now.

Look at the way Mr. Avraham helped Mayor Doug Palmer of Trenton and their lives was threaten in the process - had made things peaceful in Trenton; until the enemies of Mayor Palmer and Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman when after Emmanuel's contract with New Jersey Department of Corrections.

The enemies of Mayor Palmer, and assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman created false rumors about Shahid and his compant The Life Skills Academy.

If anyone wants to know did his services work. The answer is YES, it saved my son's LIFE; and many others.

On the news the other night appeared the family of one of the murdered kids with a group of men and woman who once was locked up with my son in prison.

It was such a blessings to see them on national television this past week aiding these families. The Street Doctor (Earl Best) and others standing and ready to help.

My son said Mom, all of those guys credit Emmanuel Shahid Avraham for changing their lives while in prison and on the streets. The truth is in the pudding - Emmanuel Shahid Avraham is the man for the problem.

Newark City Council President Mildred Crump once said if Shahid Watson (that's what we still call him) is involved the job is going to get done.

Someone needs to call upon his services, that's if he's not already helping someone else right now.

We need Emmanuel Shahid Avraham back in the prison's and on the streets plain and simple!!

Your correct Avraham will be back in the prison for awhile and then on the streets. Only this time the state won't give him money to do it.
