From the desk of Councilman Schenk

Fourth Ward Councilman Kurt Schenk expressed his displeasure with the Daily Local's coverage of Coatesville and the newspaper's editorial board during his council comments at the end of Monday night's meeting.

The sharp words were prompted by Local's own pointed criticisms contained in an editorial from May 13 that compared Schenk and Councilwoman Patsy Ray to the Scarecrow from the "The Wizard of Oz."

Schenk pondered why Coatesville, which represents "2 percent of the county's population, (receives) 50 percent of the Daily Local's news coverage." And he characterized those articles as overwhelmingly negative.

"If (Coatesville) was a white affluent neighborhood anywhere else in the county," Schenk said. "It would not be tolerated."

Convinced he will never get what he believes is a fair shake by the newspaper, the councilman has begun publishing his own newsletter, which Schenk distributed copies of before the start of the council meeting.

The first edition can be seen here ... it's like Schenk's own blog without all the fancy electricity.

What a F....... joke. These accomplishments were all started by the last administration. The new admin and new council had nothing to do with any of these projects, except , just happening to be here when they were completed. Name ONE new project. Schenk, go play minister!

Well 10:54 good point. I'd be curious if anyone prints this out and brings this up at the next meeting? I love to see him try to explain this.

You know, it's not the white, affluent cities that cause any trouble that's worth the news.

Isn't the Daily Local based in Coatesville anyways? It's the first thing that comes up when you search for "coatesville news". What do you expect them to report on? The flooding in the midwest?! Write what you know, people.

There is virtually nothing concerning Coatesville or any other place in Chester County in other daily newspapers such as the Philadelphia Inquirer. They they stopped covering Chester County years ago. Newspapers such as the Inquirer have reporters that cover Pennsylvania but not a staff in Chester County as they did years ago. The Daily Local News is the only daily newspaper in Chester County. If the Inquirer did have reporters here I believe that they would write similar articles.

If you have ever witnessed Schenk in person you would understand the the Daily Local News is going very easy on him.

As one TV news person who should know told me; "there is nothing like the Coatesville City Council meetings anywhere else in the USA".

Schenk said he likes the current administration because he can believe what they tell him. I remember hearing Schenk, on tape lying to one of the people he is supposed to represent. Schenk wouldn't know the truth if it hit him in the face. Most liars don't

I remember Schenk's wife, in the lobby after the meeting, screaming and hollering at the man who played the tape, at the council meeting. Her public display may be a clue to the mine set in the Schenk household.

Ecclesiastes 7:7

1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."

James 3:6

Matthew 7
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Quoting the Bible may make one feel better but I doubt it will clean up Coatesville. This Schenk guy sure has a lot of guilt over being white and apparently has assumed the role of "race card player" on behalf of his peeps. That is evident when he suggests a special truck to clean up the graffiti rather than focusing on the core of the problem which is, again, his peeps who are doing the tagging.(or whatever other euphemism they are using these days.) Maybe Schenk can do something for the City to bring back the Coatesville Record as a daily newspaper. Oh, wait, not enough advertising revenue in Coatesville to support a daily newspaper is there? Schenk's peeps don't represent much of a demographic for advertising and that is really what is wrong with Coatesville. Bring wealthy people to the City through business and real estate investment and people won't be shedding tears over moving to Coatesville. Until that time, the white, right Reverend will just have to keep playing the race card and pointing fingers at the media!

Matthew 7:5 First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

1 Cor. 5:11But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat. 12What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you."

Luke 8:17 (Whole Chapter)
For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.

James 5:19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save ◙a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

8:36 You are right on.

Here we go again with not finding how the problem happened but making someone else pay to take it away. Instead of spending the money to find the people who did it, lets buy a paint truck and paint over it. Oh yeah and of course the victims will have to pay for the paint, and if the victims dont pay they will be forced to pay? Unbelievable !

Kurt do everyone a favor and pack up and move to wherever your followers are, cause you have none in Coatesville!

Rev. Shenk is a wonderful, God fearing man. We should be grateful that he gives of himself unselfishly as a public servant for the betterment of Coatesville. He is certinaly God's gift to us. We should all appreciate all he is doing and get behind him to make Coatesville the great place it had been in the past. We should stop our bickering and support this great man.

Like I said on the other post. Schenk is a real jerk, I bet he got his a** kicked a lot when he was in school with his wise mouth. It's a wonder he has any teeth left, if he was in my class he would have got them all knocked out by my buddy! ha-ha!

To 4:58, it's obvious what side of the fence your own here. However the point of matter is not what type of person he is but rather what job as a city council member he is doing. The voters put him in office to make this city better. Now we should be looking at his and the rest of council's accomplishments. Based on what I have read and heard, he is not doing the job he was voted in to do. So that being said in 2010 he will be voted out. Doesn't matter if he is a jerk or a wise mouth, what matter is this - is this city better off then when it was when he took office? If as many people (myself included) think it isn't then neither himself or the rest of the people will be back in 2010. Matthews will be gone and most likely Walker will be fired.

Bible quoting won't help Coatesville. If it did, with all the churches and street preaching events, and preachers on city council Coatesville should be heaven on earth.

MAYBE SCHENK SHOULD MAKE HIS POSTS WITH HIS NAME ON THEM INSTEAD OF POSTING ANONYMOUSLY. WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE! IF HE IS A MAN OF GOD, HE WOULDN'T POST WITH ALL OF THIS DECEPTION.

Just another in a long list of Coatesvillians that dodged the coat hanger for the first 9 months of their lives! Get real, since when has it been thei city's responsiblity to remove spraypaint from a building that DOES NOT BELONG to the city. Try having the police chief taking a tougher stance on crime, instead of taking a reactive approach to graffiti. With your line of thinking, the next person that needs something done to the interior of their house will be calling the public works department to have it done. Get a clue!

There are so many people that are unhappy with the way things are being done in Coatesville but no one will stand up for what they think is right. You just come here and leave your messages like that will fix it.Well it won't.Do any of you think that Walker or anyone else in City council cares what you write here? Why would they you guys can't even put your name to what you believe so why would they care.I lived in Coatesville for many years, right on Chestnut St across form Robert Beggs law office and I loved it. Now I won't even drive down that street. It is the people that make a town not the city council. Take your town back now before there is nothing left.

Schenk is to blame for the crime happening in Coatesville.

His policies and mis guided beliefs allow crime to flourish.

Now he's got blood on his hands from what happened in West End this past Saturday.

Way To Go Schenk !!

I don't believe the blood of those killings are on Schenks hands. Granted he and others on council and in the local gov't do need to get off their butts and do something and granted he is a boob. But I also believe the people of coatesville need to take back the streets. Be out there more and be aware of what is going on. Don't pull your shades and ignore. You call the police and they will come. I do it all the time in my neighborhood. They are a great bunch of men and woman.
