Happy Birthday Bessie

Fair Acres residents in Building 8 helped fellow resident Bessie Wilson celebrate her 101st Birthday on 03/22/08. Surrounded by family members, Bessie was presented with a citation from arepresentative on behalf of Congressman Joe Sestak's office and the Friendsof Fair Acres gave her a floral corsage.Born and raised in Cambridge, Maryland, Bessie and her late husband Fred G.Wilson relocated to Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Although they never hadchildren of their own, they helped raise many nieces and nephews. Bessiewas also titled as a "Mother" at the First Baptist Church in Darby and amember of the Union Blue Ribbon Club.Always an active woman, she continued driving her car until she was in her80's. Bessie worked as a domestic but found the time to plan church tripswith her group to places like Lancaster Pennsylvania. Fair Acres Geriatric Center is Delaware County's long-term care facility inLima on Route 352, one mile north of the intersection of Route 1 and GraniteRun Mall.
