Council Vice-Chairman John J. Whelan (center) presented a resolution commending the Irish of Havertown for winning the top prize, the George Costello Award, for the 14th time in the Float Division in the annual Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
President and organization founder James P. Kilgallen (right) was joined by members Gertrude Murray (1st from right) and Mike Bradley (1st from left) as well as Haverford Township Commissioner James E. McGarrity (left) at the April 28 Delaware County Council meeting, where they described their entry, "St. Patrick: Guide Us To Peace And Prosperity." Bradley is Director of the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
