Stay classy Phoenixville, and other random thoughts
For a town that has spent years molding an image that revolves around the concept of a vibrant business community operating in harmony with Phoenixville’s past, there’s one recent addition that looks painfully out of place. Those who regularly travel Bridge Street will have noticed one façade has recently undergone a makeover that makes it seem more at home in Key West than a historic steel town. I don’t really need to point out the building in question, it stands out. And I don’t mean to pick on this property owner. They have the right to paint their building whatever color they want. But it seems strange that, given that downtown businesses and property owners are so image-driven, that one would choose a façade that is so mismatched with the rest of Bridge Street. Of course, some would say that many downtown facades need some kind of work, even if it does involve florescent colors. They’d be right. Stay tuned Be sure to check out The Phoenix’s latest venture, a new entertainment and living magazine that we’ve dubbed First. This piece will debut on Dec. 5 with a variety of stories and features, focusing on cool local and regional events and trends. We’re working on a great piece about underground music in the Philly area that will be the centerpiece of this magazine, so keep your eyes open.
