What's On Tonight: Good-bye Grissom, Hello Swayze's Beast

Tonight's a sad night for me. As I've mentioned before someone is leaving one of my favorite shows.

Gil Grissom Pictures, Images and Photos

Tonight at 9 p.m. on CBS, it's a very special CSI ... Gil Grissom (William Petersen), the leader of the pack, is leaving :(

Not for any particular reason, just the fact that the actor thinks its time to move on. At least he won't be ceremoniously killed off like Warrick was last September in a very teary-eyed episode. Or simply cast aside like Sarah last season. Grissom's exact reason for deparure is still a close-guarded mystery.

CSI debuted on CBS on Oct. 6, 2000, in the same time slot it still holds and quickly became the most-watched show on TV, stampeding past former ratings top spot holder ER. The show's title, which stands for Crime Scene Investigation and pounding theme (The Who's Who Are You?), quickly became staples in households across the country.

The show went on to inspire two very successful spin-offs: CSI: Miami and CSI: New York. Both are still on the CBS schedule, but neither has achieved the status of the original.

A typical episode centers around corpses and the various scientific techniques the CSI teams uses to determine the culprit and fashion of the slaying. But it was the characters that the audience really embraced. And at the top of the list was the bug-loving investigator Gil Grissom. I'm getting more bummed by the minute writing this, so I won't go on much more, only to say, that I think after tonight, I won't be watching anymore -- :(

Grissom's replacement, critically-acclaimed actor Laurence Fishburne will do a fine job, I'm sure, but to me, Grissom was the true heart of the show and without him (much like when David Duchovny left the X-Files) what's the point in continuing ...

Thank you William Petersen -- you made my Thursday nights intriguing!

And while we're saying good-bye to one beloved character, here comes another new one -- Patrick Swayze makes his Prime Time debut tonight over on A&E with his new cop drama The Beast. According to TV Guide, he stars as an unconventional FBI agent (is there any other kind on TV?) paired with a rookie partner -- who may have a hidden agenda (you don't say ...).

The Beast airs at 10 p.m., for more info visit http://www.aetv.com/the-beast/

Elsewhere on TV Tonight:

Those wacky, sexually uninhibited docs over at Seattle Grace are back with another new episode of Grey's Anatomy on ABC at 9. This week, Emmy-award winner Tyne Daly shows up as McDreamy's mom and has some words with gloomy Meredith. And there's a continuation of the serial killer/death row inmate storyline -- looks like he's going to donate an organ to that dying kid. And I'm totally getting the sh*ts of the whole Denny-Izzy-Karev triangle. Now, don't get me wrong, I love seeing Jeffrey Dean Morgan in any incarnation, but really -- this is just ridiculous!!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, why do we love this guy?

Raging chef Gordon Ramsay is back with an all new episode of his hit show Kitchen Nightmares on Fox at 9 as well. You know I'm a big fan of Ramsay, but this is just not a good time slot for me. I've been lax in keeping up with this show. Lucky for me it repeats over on BBC America.
For info visit http://www.fox.com/kitchennightmares/

Golden Globe Winner for Best Comedy Show, 30 Rock also offers up a new ep at 9:30 on NBC. I like this show a lot, but I'm finding it harder to keep up with because of the time slot.

Sam and Dean Winchester Pictures, Images and Photos
Sam & Dean

Although I'm still wallowing in Grissom's departure, I'm equally excited that my Winchester Boys are back tonight!! Yes, Sam and Dean continue to chase down demons for the CW's Supernatural. Again, another show airing in the 9-10 time slot, I always make time for this one! Partly for the supernatural storyline and partly because the Winchester bros are HOT!!
For more info visit http://www.cwtv.com/shows/supernatural

And wrapping up tonight's highlights VH1 offers up Celebrity Rehab presents Sober House at 10. Recovering addicts from Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, who obviously needed more help, spent three months in a sober house to hone sobriety skills. Hmmm wonder how that went. Tune in if you're the least bit curious ...

So I watched AI last night and while, again, not enough craptastic singers for me, I must admit I see an early leader -- Anoop! Oh yeah, me likey this Middle Eastern-American kid and can't wait to see what he offers up!
Reminds me a little of a former fave Sanjaya (I can hear Eddie Idol groaning now!) -- yeah I liked Sanjaya, mostly because everyone else didn't. It was most fun teasing Eddie every week that Sanjaya squeaked thru! And, being the stylista I am, I looked forward to the hairdos and don'ts!!
What did you think? Please hit the comments and let me know.
Also Kudos to Eddie Idol on his first posting ... looking forward to more! And Ray, you'd better get on it ... I'm looking forward to hearing from you to!!

Anybody watch the Lost season finale last night? I couldn't hang around for the whole thing, what with Idol and Top Chef, I could only surf during commercials. But I did happen to see the preview for next week's premiere and, hey, it looks like Desmond and Penny didn't waste any time reuniting and already have a baby!! Oh my, what will Ben think of that?
Of course, watching the show reminded me how curious I am over Richard. I mean, really, what's his story?? I'm dying to know ...

What's on Tonight, Golden Globes, The Dark Knight

What’s on tonight: In addition to Survivor: Gabon tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS, there’s a few other noteworthy shows to watch.
LAWRENCE FISHBURNE Pictures, Images and Photos
Welcome Lawrence
Following Survivor at 9 p.m. Lawrence Fishburne joins the cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Dr. Raymond Langston, a physician and criminology professor who we know will eventually be joing their twisted little group. For those of you who don’t know, Gil Grissom (aka William Petersen) is leaving the show as a full-time cast member. However, he will be back from time to time.

Over on ABC, it’ll be another confusing episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Where is this storyline going between Izzy and Denny (dead guy walking)? And Karev for that matter? We’ll just have to wait and see …

Keanu Reeves stars on the big screen this weekend in a remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still. If you’re interested in seeing the 1951 original, you’re in luck. AMC is broadcasting it at 8 p.m. tonight. The sci-fi classic centers around an alien who arrives on Earth to stop mankind’s atomic experimentation before it destroys the planet. Sound familiar?
The Day the Earth Stood Still Pictures, Images and Photos

Later tonight, Sen. John McCain pays another visit to David Letterman on The Late Show at 11:35 p.m. on CBS. It’s his first post-election appearance.

Tom-Valkyrie Pictures, Images and Photos

Nazi Cruise

And on The Tonight Show, Valkyrie star Tom Cruise chats up his latest with Jay Leno same time on NBC. He’ll follow that with a visit to the Today Show on Monday. This will be Cruise’s first sit down with Matt Lauer since his famous “glib” comment a few years ago …

Golden Globe Pictures, Images and Photos
The Golden Globe nominations were announced early this morning in Hollywood. While I don’t have enough time to list them here, you can see the entire list at
www.goldenglobes.org
Multiple nominees included The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Revoluntionary Road and Slumdog Millionaire (this year’s sleeper his with critics). As well as actresses Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet, who got two nominations each.

And in the television categories, big noms were True Blood, Dexter, Mad Men, House, Entourage, 30 Rock, Californication and The Office.
HBO’s John Adams is expected to easily clean-up in it’s nominations for Best Mini-Series, and star Paul Giamatti (way to go Pig Vomit!).
It’s all good for HBO at the Globes anyway, with 22 overall nominations, the cable channel will easily clean up again this year!

heath ledger Pictures, Images and Photos
The late Heath Ledger was also honored with a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight. As much as it is deserved, I can’t help shake the sad feelings surrounding this. I was just watching The Dark Knight last night and marveling at what a spectacular film it really is. Ledger’s turn as the twisted villain is superb to say the least and leaves you feeling sad wondering what would have come of his career if things hadn’t turned out the way they did last January …
What a waste, accidental as it was, it’s still such a waste.
Hopefully, Ledger and The Dark Knight will go on to Oscar nominations as well.

What do you think?

Survivor Recap, Weekend Watch

Survivor - Gabon Pictures, Images and Photos
Survivor Gabon: Episode 8 - The aftermath of last week's dual Tribal Councils was weighing heavily on both tribes as the show opened last night.
At Kota, tension rose among the castaways as they aired their greivances about the voting plans. Although Dan was the one sent home, Corinne is still seething at Suzie!
Over at Fang, Crystal was upset with Matty for putting her name in contention. Matty defended himself, saying he had to keep his promise to Ace. Sugar said she trusted Kenny and had to get rid of Ace before he did her in.
Morning brought an invite to a reward challenge for the tribes. However, when they arrived at the designated area, there was what appeared to be the customary "merge feast." The tribes were instructed to enjoy the food and camraderie, and not to open the sealed box until they were finished, as opening it would end the feast.
Ken spotted a note with the box, offering up another hidden immunity idol. Randy quickly uncovered it and proclaimed himself "King of Gabon!"
RANDY BAILEY Pictures, Images and Photos
King of Gabon?
As everyone stared at the new idol, they became aware that whoever picked it up would instantly become a target. Randy convinced the others that they didn't need the idol and it was thrown into the ocean (are they nuts?).
After opening the box, it was discovered that there wasn't going to be a merge, simply another change-up of the tribes. Everyone was quite surprised ... Crystal and Ken joined the Kota tribe, Randy returned to Fang and Corinne and Charlie also became Fang members.
Crystal and Ken were delighted to be in the Kota camp, since most members were formerly Fang. Crystal made a pact with Marcus, but later said it didn't mean much since she had the same pact with Ace.
At the new Fang, Matty told Sugar that Ace was on her side all along and wouldn't have played her. Sugar realized that she was duped into getting rid of Ace by Kenny and Crystal. Randy and Corrine talked about getting rid of Matty, since he is the biggest threat.
Back at Kota, Susie pleaded to Marcus that she desparately wanted to stay in the game longer ...
The Immunity Challenge consisted of each individual balancing a short pole on each outstretched hand, with the top of the pole being held under a loose board. Whomever was the last one standing won immunity for their whole tribe.
Oddly enough, as soon as Jeff started the challenge, Crystal dropped her pole (boy, she's really some Olympic athlete, isn't she?). For obvious reasons, this challenge didn't last long and came down to Bob and Matty. Bob dropped and Matty won for Fang.
Before Kota made the trip to tribal council, the plotting ensued (I swear, this is my fave part of the show). Marcus talked Crystal into getting rid of Kenny and Susie. Crystal wasn't falling for Marcus' plan. Then Marcus asked Susie to vote off Crystal (who would get my vote). Crystal asked Susie to vote with her and Kenny against Marcus. Susie suddenly found herself the swing vote, and aligned with Crystal and Kenny to vote out Marcus, who never saw it coming ...
Thus making Crystal the tribe's power player at least for this week. Stay tuned ...

Bye-Bye Marcus, and you were a cute one too!

As usual, Thursday night held a lot of new TV for me, so I didn't get to watch everything yet ... however, I did tune into Grey's Anatomy just in time to catch a glimpse of my favorite character - Denny!
jeffery dean morgan Pictures, Images and Photos
Miss Ya Denny!
Yes, doomed Denny (played by handsome Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the love of Izzy's life, showed up in the OR just as Izzy was supposed to be calming down the heart surgery patient whose heart she had stolen a few season's back to save Denny. (It didn't work, of course, those of you who watch know - Denny's dead.) So I guess I'm back to watching this one, at least for now ...

Grissom and Lady Heather: Greatest Couple! Pictures, Images and Photos
Griss and the Lady
Over at CSI (which is the show I actually watched at 9 pm), as foretold, Grissom visited the luscious Lady Heather after being assigned a case which featured a bondage victim. However, it wasn't strictly the case that had motivated him to visit. Lady Heather, who is actually legit now (she's a certified sex therapist), has always been at the forefront of Griss' fantasies, and last night's episode ended with our boy calling out to the Lady to come into the bedroom .... Oh, what would Sarah say?

In other TV news: Fox is switching up their line-up in January. Their super-successful doc-drama House will be moving to Mondays at 8 p.m. Jan. 19 to make room for the return of ..... wait for it ....

AMERICAN IDOL! (starts Jan. 13) -- EdM., hope you're reading this, I know how your winter/spring revolves around AI!

That officially makes House the lead-in to another of my favorite shows - 24! Mondays are going to be great!
Also shifting time slots are Bones, moving to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15; Hole in the Wall, moving to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18; and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, moving to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13. (I have seriously got to start watching this, I have season one on DVD, but can't seem to find the time!)
Buffy creator Joss Whedon's Dollhouse is back on the schedule with a debut at 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13.
And Jack Bauer officially returns with 24 with a four-hour special premier Jan. 11 and 12 from 9-11 p.m. By the way, only two weeks till the movie - 24: Redemption (Sunday, Nov. 23, 8 p.m.). But if you can't wait, you can view the trailer at http://www.fox.com/24/redemption/
I guess that means Prison Break will end its current season sometime before Christmas (we can only hope). Anyone else feel that this latest season is becoming very tiresome?

Girls Next Door star and former Hef-love in Kendra Wilkinson is engaged to Philadelphia Eagles receiver Hank Baskett.
"I have given her my blessing and will be giving her away at a very special wedding ceremony at the Playboy Mansion this coming June," Hugh Hefner said.
The 23-year-old model-actress (don't you just love that combo, read with proper sarcasm) co-starred in the E! reality series while living with the Playboy founder and playmates Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt, both have also left the relationship.
Don't cry for Hef tho, the 82-year-old has moved on to 19-year-old twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon.
Can't wait to hear Joel McHale's take on all this tonight at 10 p.m. on E!'s The Soup! If you're a Soup viewer, you already know how much Joel digs Kendra (sarcasm, again).

Not too much on the Weekend Watch this time. However, I will point out that Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd makes its TV debut on HBO Saturday night. I gave this film the No. 1 spot on my favorite flicks of 2007 list last year. It's classic Burton, dark and very bloody! Be warned, it features a LOT of singing (it's a Stephen Sondheim musical, afterall).
Johnny Depp's portrayal of the Demon Barber of Fleet Street is completely mesmerizing and earned him another Oscar nom for Best Actor! If you're a Depp or Burton fan, don't miss it. If you don't have HBO - go rent it!
johnny depp Pictures, Images and Photos
Even Ghoulish, he still looks good!

And last, but certainly not least, a public apology to the Elfman. I was the one who spelled the gorgeous Padma Lakshmi's name wrong the other day. Pardon. But at least I spelled Tom Colicchio right! -- don't send Joan Crawford after me, I don't have any wire hangers!

South Park recap, Thursday's Line-Up

South Park Obama McCain Pictures, Images and Photos
Hats off to South Park creators Trey Park and Matt Stone for one heck of an episode last night on Comedy Central. "About Last Night ..." featured the residents of South Park joining the rest of the country in celebrating the election of the U.S. President, who moved a new administration into the White House ahead of schedule.
In another of South Park's over-the-top satires, unsurprisingly, Barack Obama won, only to retire to his hotel room and meet up with his partner in "crime" John McCain. Seems their whole candidacies were a clever ruse to get one of them into the Oval Office to access a secret passage that would lead straight to the Hope diamond ... a la Ocean's 11, 12 or 13, whichever. It really didn't matter, Obama and McCain were the head of the best thief club in the world, with Sarah Palin posing as a British espionage expert! The whole scam was to fool the American public, get the big pay-off and fake their own deaths to retire to Tahiti ... well done!
The episode will repeat at 10 p.m. tonight and over the weekend or you can just watch it here http://www.southparkstudios.com/
By the way, I actually did find a photo of the guineasaurus rex from last week's episode! Cool huh? (sorry photo's so big)

Perennial Emmy-loser Susan Lucci (yes, I know she eventually won) was the unlucky contestant over on Dancing with the Stars last night.

She and her handsome partner Tony Dovolani bid adieu in a show that featured a performance by Lionel Ritchie - Lionel Ritchie? Where's he been? And how 'bout those tight pants - where were the ABC censors? However, the most memorable moment for me was the pros feature dance, featuring a newly shorn Maksim Chmerikovsky! WTH? Yes, he's still gorgeous, but he could've warned us ...For more info visit

Maksim, what have you done?

On to tonight: I guess you should all know by now that Thursday night means another castaway will be voted off Survivor: Gabon! Of course, I'll have a full recap tomorrow.
That's not the only interesting thing on CBS tonight. At 9 p.m. the super-sexy Lady Heather returns to tempt Gil Grissom on the original CSI. Actually, he'll be going to visit her while investigating a case that involves sexual domination. Yes, kiddies Lady Heather's a pro! Hey Elfman, what do you think of her?

Over on ABC, same time, it's time to bid farewell to Dr. Erica Hahn and her relationship with Callie. As I stated yesterday, Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes decided not to continue with the lesbian storyline and is ending it tonight. Following at 10 p.m. the new hit Life on Mars features a guest appearance by Whoopi Goldberg tonight. And, sit down, she plays a man - Brother Love Butter, a soulful underground New York radio personality, circa 1973.

The CW offers up another episode of Supernatural at 9 p.m. In "Wishful Thinking" hunky bros Sam and Dean Winchester visit a town where a wishing well brings chaos.

Winchester Boys Pictures, Images and Photos

And speaking of chaos, chef Gordon Ramsay will be stirring up trouble at Jack's Waterfront in Michigan on Fox's Kitchen Nightmares at 9 also.

Dr. Drew's back on VH1 at 10 p.m. with another episode of Celebrity Rehab. I gotta say, after a great first episode, last week's 2nd was quite disappointing and a little unbearable to watch. Don't know if I'll be checking in this week ...

And if you can't get enough of the E! True Hollywood Story, tonight's your night. Three back-to-back episodes will be shown tonight starting at 8 p.m. with The Kardashians (yawn), followed at 9 by Heidi Klum (could be interesting) and at 10 with Star Jones (I've heard this one was good).

Also, don't forget HBO offers up a mini-thon of the last three episodes of its vampire drama True Blood from 8-11 p.m. tonight also. Check in and get acquainted with the residents (alive and undead) of Bon Temps, Louisiana - only 3 more new episodes to go. For info visit

Twilight's Edward vs. True Blood's Bill: Who Would You Rather Die For?

Twilight/DVR alert: Edward Cullen aka Robert Pattinson stops by MTV's TRL from 3:30-4:30 this afternoon to chat up Twilight. (Yeah, just another chance to mention Twilight in my post labels, always generates more hits!)

And finally, the numbers are in from Tuesday night's elections - no not those numbers - the Nielsen ratings. Nearly 72 million people watched the returns, up more than 24 percent from the 2004 election. The numbers reflect those watching election returns on 14 different networks from 8-11 p.m., when most networks called the race for Barack Obama, according to Nielsen.
In comparison, 58 million watched the 2004 election returns on about 10 networks, and about 62 million watched the 2000 returns. I wonder if they're counting the ratings for BBC America, which was where I was watching. Very interesting watching our election returns from another country's perspective.

CSI, Survivor, Weekend Watch

So this morning, all we could talk about was last night's season premiere of CSI on CBS. And by all, I mean, all my die-hard Survivor fans. Usually Thursday morning starts out with the greeting, "What did you think of Survivor last night?"
However, today we could not ignore the heart-breaking CSI episode fittingly titled "For Warrick."
CSI For Warrick
Grisson holds his dying friend

For those of you who missed it, CSI, formerly television's number one rated show (it's still in the Top 10) began its ninth season with the death of one of its own. Last May's season eight finale ended with the shocking shooting of investigator Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan) by Undersheriff McKeen. The show opened last night with a very brief recap, followed by CSI leader Gil Grissom (William Peterson) hearing the "officer down" call and being the first to find Warrick slumped over the steering wheel of his car. Racked with emotion, the usually reserved Grissom pulled his colleague from the car. Warrick, still alive, gasped and spat blood, while Grissom begged him to hang on. All the while McKeen hovered over them, stating that he had seen and briefly chased the shooter till he lost him.
Warrick died in Grissom's arms and the episode was a tear-jerker from that point on. As reaction spread throughout the department, even Capt. Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) grieved (he wasn't Warrick's biggest fan). But perhaps the worst was Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger), since she truly loved Warrick and had always hoped for a closer relationship. As predicted by fans, former CSI team member (who departed last season) and Grissom love interest, Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) returned to comfort her friends. Anyway, while still grieving, the team made it their first priority to find Warrick's killer and low-and-behold, by the end of the episode, McKeen was tracked down by the department, specifically CSI team member Nick Stokes (George Eads), who held him at gun point in a tense moment, before discharging his weapon into the ground, "missing" his intended target.
McKeen was taken into custody and the episode ended with a VERY moving memorial service for Warrick Brown. To watch or for more info, visit http://www.cbs.com/primetime/csi/

After proper respects were paid by my colleagues to Warrick, talk turned to Survivor: Gabon.
Yes, the show started out with Fang's Randy complaining about the rice again! Randy's made it well known that he is worried about his tribe eating too much ...
As I foretold yesterday, the tribes were shaken up last night. Seemingly called together for a reward challenge, tribe members were told to rank their members in order of importance to the tribe's survival. Here's how it went:

Kota: Marcus, Ace, Bob, Charlie, Jacquie, Corinne, Sugar and Kelly.
Fang: Matty, Dan, Randy, Crystal (who was very insulted being ranked 4th), Ken, GC and Suzie.
Survivor Gabon Episode 4
Survivors ranked
Then Jeff said the magic words - "Drop your buffs!" (Buffs are the tube-like piece of clothing all Survivors are required to have on their bodies at all times, identifying which tribe you belong to.)Taking the two top ranked tribe members, Marcus for Kota and Matty for Fang, Jeff instructed them each to pick a member from the other tribe to form their new tribe. Each newly picked member then got to pick another new member from the next tribe and so on.
Here's how they ended up:
New Kota: Marcus, Charlie, Dan, Randy, Corinne, Suzie and Bob.
New Fang: Matty, Ace, Crystal, Jacquie, Ken, Kelly and GC.
Since no one picked Sugar, she was sent to Exile Island (remember, Sugar already has the Immunity Idol) and would return to whichever tribe lost the immunity challenge and had to vote off a member. Thus evening out the tribes once again.
Randy, of course, started out already paranoid with his new tribe. He's worried since the original Kota members outnumber the new Kota's. And rightly so, we've all seen this before. The original members stick together and one-by-one pick off the "new" members from the rival tribe.
Fang lost their second immunity challenge in a row and, proving the all the stupid Fang members are still there, they decide to base their vote on whether or not Sugar has the Idol. We know she does, but they don't. In the end, the former Fang members stick together and vote out Jacquie, 5-2. To watch this episode or for more info visit http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor/
Jacquie
Bye-Bye Jacquie

Weekend Watch
: Umm, let's see, I still haven't watched the Sci-Fi channel premiere of Sanctuary yet, and the second episode airs tonight at 10 p.m. Same for Cartoon Network's Star Wars: Clone Wars, airing their next ep at 9 p.m. Oh, the guilt, I feel like I'm really letting George Lucas down. Boy, am I getting waaaay behind!

Sign of the Apocolypse: Over on ABC tonight at 10 p.m. is the new season of 20/20 and just guess what this once prestigious news show is promoting?Yes, folks, Britney Spears will debut her new video for "Womanizer" on what was once Barbara Walters turf. What would Hugh Downs say ...

And in case you haven't read the books or seen any of the movies yet, Disney Channel will be broadcasting the original Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone at 9 p.m. I guess you can probably tell since I'm mentioning it here - I love this movie!
Yes, I've read all the books, the first four before this movie came out, but I still love to watch it. It's good for the whole family - not too many like that anymore.

Times have changed!

You're on your own for Saturday night, there's nothing on the schedule that interests me at all. I guess that means DVD night!

Sunday is, of course, Hell Night! There's just too much on! But I'll be watching the Amazing Race on CBS at 8, followed by HBO's True Blood and Entourage at 9 and 10, respectively. I still haven't caught up on last week's Dexter (9 pm, Showtime) and at 10 pm another new episode dawns for David Duchovny's Californication. Fortunately, Showtime is gratuitous enough to repeat the episode immediately after at 10:30 pm.

Yes, I'll continue to tape Desperate Housewives (ABC, 9pm), because I don't want to be left out of the loop at work. However, VH1 is throwing a new show into the mix at the same time ... and it's one I know I just can't resist ... Rock of Love Charm School, hosted by Sharon Osbourne.

Bringing the best of the best (or should I say the skankiest of the skanks) from Brett Michael's dating show Rock of Love, this promises to be a real schlockfest! And in case you miss it, VH1's gracious enough to air it all week long - I usually catch up with these type shows when they repeat Sunday mornings. It's a great way to start the day ...

And in other Desperate Housewives news: Eonline reports that for November sweeps Fairview will be hit by a massive fire, and some characters won't survive. First the tornado and now this, you'd better think twice about moving onto Wisteria Lane.
sons of anarchy Pictures, Images and Photos

FX has given the green light to a second season of my fave new show Sons of Anarchy (I told you it was good)! Variety reports that the network has ordered 13 new episodes of the outlaw show. Another FX hit, The Riches, however, has been cancelled.

Halloween Horror Watch: Tune in tonight to TNT for a double dose of the supernatural. Final Destination, a teen slasher flick that was better than most, begins at 8 pm. The plot revolves around some students who "cheated" death early on and now death is individually finishing the job. The beginning of this film portrays one of the most realistic plane crashes I've ever seen in film, worth checking out.
Afterwards at 10 pm is Underworld, a goth-style vampire flick with great special effects, revolving around the eternal war between vampires and lykens (werewolves). Very stylish, think Matrix with vamps and wolves.
UNDERWORLD Pictures, Images and Photos

Saturday night brings the granddaddy of slasher films John Carpenter's superb Halloween to the Independent Film Channel at 9 pm. This great flick opened the floodgates on all teen-slasher-horror to come after, the good and the bad, and also spawned a franchise that grew to ridiculous proportions, even bringing back heroine Lori Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) 20 years later for Halloween: H20. Not to mention a remake last year, directed by Rob Zombie, giving us a little more insight to chiller-killer Michael Myers.

Despite what you might think about the silly sequels, you have to admit that the original is one of the scariest movies of all time! "The Night He Came Home" ... not bad for a guy in a William Shatner mask!
Michael Myers Pictures, Images and Photos

And IFC offers up another Halloween treat Sunday night at 9:30 pm with Jeepers Creepers. Yes, it's another teen-slasher flick, but I have to admit, the Creeper gives me nightmares!
Have a scary weekend!
