Train Wreck
Hi, Ed. Years ago I worked as a carpenter’s foreman out of Local Union 31 on the first phase of remodeling at the South Clinton Train Station. Rumors at the time were that another station might rise above, since we used extra-strength foundations and reinforced the river bed with 28-foot pilings to support future additions. During the time we were on the job, a train containing General McArthur’s body passed by headed for Arlington Cemetery. Now we have this huge art piece “Ribbons and Confetti,” which is out of place and cost an enormous amount of money at a time when we are already up to our necks in the quicksand of the economic deficit. This money could have been spent for a better purpose such as autism research, crime control and keeping students in school.
Change the Station
You can climb the Ribbons and Confetti to escape the quicksand.—Ed. Note
