Working Mom Seeks House

Ed, I am a 24-year-old single mother of three. I work 50 hours a week on top of going to school online. I can’t seem to get a decent and affordable home. I have been on the Trenton Housing Authority waiting list for a house for about four years. I was approved for an apartment and now another year has gone by and I am still waiting for a house. Who can I complain to about this? I find it kind of ridiculous that a person like me can’t get into a house. I have called and they say there is nothing available right now. But the people who work there in the housing authority are letting their girlfriends, relatives, and friends of friends move in. Come on, I need a place, too. I can’t afford to pay $1,100 a month rent for a decent home for me and my girls. Can anybody help me? Who can I talk to?
Still Waiting
If anyone deserves a little help, it’s a hardworking mom like you.—Ed. Note

i am hard working and have to find my own place to live without any handouts. i don't get anything, so why should you expect to? because you had 3 kids? that's your problem. and yet the rest of us have to pay for your housing plus my own?? live in your apartment and deal with it.

The THA does not rent to their family friends girlfriends and boyfriends. When I was in need I rented an apt for 8 yrs. I had low rent and was able to be a mother to my kids, I was able to work spend time with my kids(2 kids) . But I used that time on subsidy to go to school and become a nurse and move out and pay my bills with ease. Now I work less and get paid more. Thank you THA!!! Go to college trade school or something!!!

Trust me their waiting list is long, I have three children and applied and have been waiting for five years now. I went to school within that time and now I make to much money for there assistance. Just keep pushing for your children and buy your own home, it is possible. Or move to the south where it is more affordable and the apartments are even nice.
