Eddie Idol's Shizz on the AI Denver Auditions

LOST: The Final Season!

Kim: Ooops, sorry! I mean .....

american idol logo Pictures, Images and Photos

Perhaps my expectations were a little too high last evening, especially after last week's entertaining Idol show in Dallas, which was packed with talent! But last night’s AI one-hour show, with auditions from Denver, CO, which gave us Season 5 Idol Star Chris Daughtry, lacked any real serious talent. There was just no WOW factor at all. A total of 26 contestants got tickets punched to Hollywood, but I doubt we see any of them in the Final 10-15 spots. Victoria Beckham was again the guest judge, only thing is she still looks anorexic, and just how many times did she compliment a contestant's face, teeth, hair or clothing style and said absolutely nothing about the person's singing skills. This isn’t ‘Project Runway’ babe! Ugh!? Bring back Shania!

Of the 26 moving on, here’s my thoughts on the BEST that we got to hear and see in the Mile High City…..

· Mark Labrioal- 28 year old Jack Black look-alike from Aurora, Co. Sings “Tempted”, and has a surprisingly good voice. He also has a very questionable past, or at least his parents do. Seems as though mom may be running from the law in one of the 50 states somewhere! Doubt he makes it through Hollywood.

· Kimberly Kerbow- 24 year old student/single mom from CA. She’s certainly an attractive girl with a bubbly and boldpersonality, and also with a good voice….but a not-so-good wig, or at least that’s what Kara and Simon pointed out. I wouldn’t have caught it. Dark Horse for Top 24 because I think she’s got the personality and the looks, and she did get to Simon a bit.

· Danelle Hayes- 24 year old mom from Seattle, who doubles as a singer-songwriter and a karaoke host. Very emotional during the whole audition, has had a tough life preparing for her big break. She sings Melissa Etheridge’s “I’m The Only One” and does rather well. Great song choice for her, as she has a big, raspy voice, so it worked. Judges all love her, and I hope she goes far too! I have her as a lock for the TOP 24.

· Casey James- 27 year old musician from Austin, TX who had a very bad motorcycle accident at 21. Kara was ‘GA-GA’ over him, as was Beckham, and Kara even had him take his shirt off! Simon blasted him, saying he had "no charisma, no effort, no attempt," but the females loved him, so Randy was the tie-breaker and put him through to Hollywood. He won’t be there long, but could easily become a model if the singing career doesn’t work out.

· Tori Kelly- Very cute 16-year-old high school student from Kenny Lake, CA, who looks way more mature than 16. She sang John Mayer's "Gravity" and received 3 yes’s from the Judges, with Simon the only one who didn’t like her. I thought she had a nice voice with good pitch and range, so I’ll put her in the TOP 24!

· Nicki Nix- 22 year old from Florence, Italy who flew 14 hours to get to the audition. Talks very ‘nasally’ and sounds quite annoying, like she just sucked helium from a balloon! But when she sings, her voice becomes much deeper and she actually sounded pretty good. She gets 4 yes’s and if she can keep the talking to a minimum in Hollywood and ‘just sing’, she just may crack the Top 24! I’ll put her in as a ‘dark horse’.

· Haeley Vaughn- Another 16-year-old high school student who is hoping to become "the first black pop-country, kinda-mainstream singer." She boldly sings Carrie Underwood’s “Last Name” and shows that she has a strong voice with good range, with a likeable personality as well. Does have a lisp that could become an issue. She’s definitely got a niche to go after in wanting to become a black pop-country singer, but I doubt she goes very far at all in the competition.

The bottom line…. At the end of the day, we got 26 Golden tickets, but again, no real ‘knock your socks off’ performances. And for all the supposedly talented folks in Denver that Ryan Seacrest mentioned all night long, we only saw 7 of the 26 ticketed to Hollywood actually perform, a little over 25%! PLEASE FOX…..TAKE ME TO HOLLYWOOD ALREADY!

Fast Facts: For those keeping count, here’s a breakdown of Golden tickets handed out so far: 26 in Denver. 31 tickets in Dallas, 23 in Los Angeles, 31 in Orlando, 13 in Chicago, 25 in Atlanta and 32 in Boston.

Idol Chatter: We're FINALLY at the end of the early audition round! Additional audition footage from all cities will air on Fox tonight (Feb. 3) at 9 p.m. before the show heads into the highly competitive Hollywood rounds next Tuesday, Feb. 9. So remember to set the DVR’s for tonight’s show, which is on in a later time slot, from 9-10 PM.

More ‘Eddie Idol’ chatter to come after the FINAL auditions tonight on Fox, but first……Eddie needs a break!

On TV Tonight: Tuesday and other News

Lost enthusiasts get a chance to go all the way back to the beginning when Oceanic Flight 815 first crashed onto that mysterious, when the Sci-Fi Channel re-airs the popular series pilot episode beginning at 7 p.m.

Idol 4 Pictures, Images and Photos

American Idol continues its Juggernaut over at Fox at 8, and it’s the beginning of Hollyweird Week! Eddie Idol’s probably foaming at the mouth in anticipation as you read this post!
AI is followed by another all new episode of Lost creator JJ Abram’s Fringe at 9.

NBC’s Biggest Loser: Couples reunites the twosomes at 8 for another 2-hour episode.

As usual there’s lots on at 10 tonight:

Bravo’s Real Housewives of Orange County goes to Las Vegas. Let the bitchiness begin ...

TLC’s Toddlers & Tiaras has the kids entering the Miss Georgia Spirit pageant. BTW, I friggin’ love this show … it’s just too much. As soon as I catch up, you can expect to see a post devoted to this ridiculous glamfest!

Food Network’s Chopped tasks the chefs with bananas, collard greens and grits as the secret ingredients.

F/X continues to slip further into sleaze with Nip/Tuck. Tonight’s episode features Sean getting closer to his teenage Indian wonderkid/student and forming a father/son relationship. It’s also the episode that features said wonderkid Raj’s father in some kind of penile surgery – eeewww!

Ted Haggard Cured Pictures, Images and Photos

Undoubtedly the most interesting thing on TV tonight is the repeat of the new HBO Documentary The Trials of Ted Haggard at 10:15. The antigay evangelist who fell from grace after his pesky fondness for crystal meth and male escorts came to light opens up about his "sexual immorality" and the battle to stay on the straight and narrow (??).

superbowl Pictures, Images and Photos

In Other News: According to the Nielsen ratings board, an estimated 95 million people tuned into the Superbowl Sunday night. (They don’t call it the most watched event on TV for nothing.) It was a very suspenseful game and can I just say that Bruce Springsteen totally ROCKED!
And I’m actually only a mediocre fan (sorry, Eddie Idol, don’t kill me!). But seriously, most Superbowl Half Time shows are a disaster, but I totally enjoyed this one!
I wish I could say the same for most of the commercials – snore! It’s one of my fave parts of watching the Big Game. Usually, I’m more interested in the commercials than I am in the game …
I did perk up, however, when I saw Jason Statham (The Transporter himself) in that Audi commercial. Kudos Audi for getting an eye-catching action star like him!
I also liked the Pepsi commercial featuring all the man-mishaps, where afterwards they said, "I’m good." I think that totally hit the mark too.
I always look forward to any/all Budweiser commercials featuring the World Famous Clydesdales. However, I think this year’s fell flat.
I'm sure if you missed any of these, you can catch them over on youtube!

Even the movie studios fell flat with their previews. Who knew they were making a new GI Joe movie? Not me, and I really don’t care, even if it stars Dennis Quaid.

And do we really need a remake of Witch Mountain – even if Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is in it?

Of course, I did enjoy the promo for the new Star Trek movie, since the only thing I’ve seen so far was that teaser before Cloverfield. Score another one for JJ Abrams!

And wasn't it great during the pre-game festivities when the USAirways Capt. Sullivan and his Crew were escorted to the field to the cheers of everyone?
Congratulations Pittsburgh Steelers, although I would’ve liked to see the Cardinals finally take home the prize.

A dozen or more photographers gathered Monday to grab shots of Donna Martin (Tori Spelling) and Kelly Taylor (Jenny Garth), while they were filming a scene in a convertible for the new 90210 in, where else?, Beverly Hills.
The reunion of the original Beverly Hills 90210 characters was quite an attention grabber. It was also the first time the CW show lived up to the 90210 zip code by filming in Beverly Hills.

And in Why Didn’t I Think of That News: The newly born octuplets’ mom has acquired an agent! Nadya Suleman, already the mother of six, prior to her recent pregnancy, is preparing to cash-in on her new found fame, signing with the Killeen Furtney Group, who she’s hoping can get her on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
She is also reportedly in talks for an interview with Diane Sawyer for Good Morning America. Look out Jon & Kate Plus Eight – you may have some competition coming your way …

Wednesday, my favorite TV night!

OK, it's Wednesday ... you know what that means ... LOST and Top Chef, two of my current favorite shows! And they're not on at the same time, BONUS!

LOST Season 5 Pictures, Images and Photos

Anyway, just a quick preview for any who are interested.

Tonight on ABC at 9 pm Lost continues with their 5th season, after coming back last week. Tonight's episode will center on Desmond's search for Daniel's mother (who I think is the same lady who's running the show for Ben, seen at the end of last week's episode). Oh no, I hope that doesn't lead Penny right to Ben, who vowed to her father, the evil Charles Widmore, that he will kill her.

Desmond Pictures, Images and Photos
Yeah, Desmond

Anyway, any episode featuring Desmond is just fine with me! I totally love him. And don't forget, last week Daniel, during a blast into the past on the island told Desmond that he's different from everyone else and the time travel "rules don't apply" to him.... hmmmm what the hell does that mean? Unfortunately, we still have two more seasons till we get "all" the answers ...

Last week's final hour of Lost repeats at 8 pm, just before the new episode.

After Lost, I'll be clicking on over to Bravo for another rousing episode of their culinary giant Top Chef New York (10 pm). Tonight hijinx will feature former contestants playing against this season's hopefuls, including fan faves Spike and "I've got a culinary boner" Andrew. Yes, Top Chef's original Bromance will be hand to shake things up. Should prove to be very interesting, although I hope they're not just there for the QuickFire Challenge as has been the case with past contestants' cameos ...

Elsewhere: Hoping to capitalize on Lost's good ratings, ABC is bringing back its new series Life On Mars at 10 pm, right after its Wednesday night behemoth ... Life follows the story of New York police detective Sam Tyler (Jason O'Mara), who gets hit by a car in 2008 and finds himself unexpectedly catapulted into the year 1973, where he's working for a less-PC NYPD. It's based on a popular BBC series and has gotten pretty good reviews.

The Biography Channel offers up some sweet beefcake tonight with back-to-back episodes of, what else, Biography, from 8-11.
Up first, it's this year's Academy Awards' host and Wolverine Hugh Jackman at 8, followed by Batman himself, Christian Bale, at 9, and the late Heath Ledger at 10.

Enjoy!

nip tuck Pictures, Images and Photos

In other news: What the hell is going on on Nip/Tuck? This show is becoming a hot mess -- and I don't mean that in a good way. During last night's episode it sunk to new lows, with newly "reformed" breast cancer survivor Christian Troy insulting women during a cancer survivors support group. He basically told them that any woman who doesn't get reconstructive surgery after losing their breasts is a victim, not a survivor. Then he quickly picked up the hottest looking broad there (who didn't even have cancer), took her back to his place and, well you know Christian ...
Then, when he refused to remove her breasts -- both her mother and sister had died of the disease, so she feared it was only a matter of time -- she went to their practice and used some of electric saw to cut them off herself!!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww.
Then the lovely Portia de Rossi, who plays Julia's lover, got a face lift from Sean, but didn't tell him she was on antidepressants, and later died!! Oh, you can bet Julia's not happy with Sean.
Christian decided to try a relationship with lesbian Liz ... eewww.
And, if all that's not ridiculous enough -- Portia's TV daughter Eden, showed up to collect her mothers ashes from Julia, who didn't want to part with them, and decided that her mother belonged with Julia afterall, throwing the ashes all over Julia and Sean!! Major Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!

I told you we need The Carver back stat!!

What's On: The Return of Lost/Top Chef Restaurant Wars!

Lost Pictures, Images and Photos
Well Lostees -- this is it! The night we've all been waiting for ... at least since last May! Tonight LOST returns. And if you missed the re-airing of last season's finale last week (and again on Sci-Fi Channel Monday night), lucky for you there's a clip-show recap at 8 p.m. on ABC.

But the real "fun" begins at 9! Two whole hours, promising us some answers, to be replaced, I'm sure, but a whole lot more questions!! Why do we put ourselves thru this trauma?

Anyway, tonight's episode titled "Because You Left" deals with the aftermath of the departure of the Oceanic 6 from the island, which itself departed to parts unknown ... and don't be late (9 pm sharp!) because I'm told the first scene is a real shocker!

This season will deal with quantum physics and some of those characters who are dead or left for dead will be turning up once again -- in flashbacks? We'll have to wait and see.

Tonight, Jack shaves (seriously, the beard did nothing for him), and he and Ben try furiously to reunite the Oceanic 6 for a trip back to the Island, a necessity, not a request! Most will have to be dragged kicking and screaming. I've also heard rumor that Locke's not really dead (you don't say), while those left behind will be dealing with the rigors of living on a time-travelling island!

But one thing's guaranteed -- Sawyer spends the whole two hours shirtless!! Yummy!! Here's a sneak peak for all the ladies!
Josh Holloway Pictures, Images and Photos

That's all I could muster, except for talk of Ana Lucia returning ... even my fave Lost spoiler site www.lostpedia.com doesn't have anything to offer except episode titles.

Get ready for heated discussion tomorrow!

top chef Pictures, Images and Photos

Also on tonight (like anything else matters) is On the Set fave Top Chef (Bravo, 10pm). Tonight's episode is the fan fave Restaurant Wars challenge, where cheftestants are divided up into two teams, given an empty room, a kitchen and a budget and tasked with creating their own restaurant. Things should get heated (as they have in the past) when some chefs are taken out of their kitchen comfort zones and challenged to manage, serve, host, etc.

And if that wasn't enough -- it looks like things are getting cozy between Hosea and Leah, who says on the promo that she's never before cheated on her ..... oooh "Watch What Happens!"

Top Chef recap tomorrow! For more on Top Chef New York visit http://www.bravotv.com/Top_Chef/season/5/index.php

Another audition episode of American Idol debuts at 8 on Fox. I don't know about you, but I thought last night's ep was a big yawn!! I'm still waiting for Eddie Idol to chime in ...

Academy Awards Pictures, Images and Photos

And lastly, tomorrow 8:30 am sharp, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announces the nominees for the Academy Awards!!! I'll be posting as soon as I can get them!
