Familiar Face Returns

The Trenton Devils announced yesterday that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Stephen Wood.

The 26-year-old, who was part of the 2005 Kelly Cup championship team, set career highs in the '05-'06 season with seven goals and 21 assists to lead all Trenton defensemen with 28 points. In his rookie campaign, Wood was second among defensemen for the Titans with 17 points
(4g, 13a) and chipped in 10 points (4g, 6a) in 20 playoff games in the run to capturing the Kelly Cup.

Wood tallied eight goals and six assists in 25 games with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL last season, and totaled seven points (1g, 6a) while splitting time between the Peoria Rivermen and Bridgeport Soundtigers of the AHL. The fourth-year pro has made 84 career AHL appearances with Peoria, Bridgewater and the Philadelphia Phantoms.

The four-year letterman at Yale is the third player to officially sign with the T-Devils, joining center Tony Zancanaro and defenseman Matt Cohen.

DEVILS MAKE TRADE

T-DEVILS MAKING MOVES
The T-Devils traded forward Chris Capraro to the Charlotte Checkers in exchange for future considerations. Capraro had a goal and two assists playing in the Titans' final two regular season games to go along with one assist in five playoff contests last season.

HITTING THE ROAD
The T-Devils announced yesterday the team will be traveling to NY to take on the self proclaimed "beasts of the east," Elmira Jackals, for two exhibition games. The Jackals are entering their first season in the ECHL, and played in the United Hockey League since 2000, and were affiliated with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL. And yes, there is an NHL team in Columbus, Ohio. They'll be joining the T-Devils in the North Division this season.

Friday, October 12, 7:35 p.m.
Saturday, October 13, 7:35 p.m.

Welcome!

TRENTON DEVILS SEASON LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AWAY!
I'd like to welcome all of you hockey fans to the Trenton Devils blog here at the Trentonian. My name is Rob Chakler and I will be covering the team throughout the season. I encourage all of you to respond to my posts, as your comments are greatly appreciated.

Obviously, the biggest story of the offseason was the name change from the Titans to the Devils. I would like to get some reaction from the fans in the city on here, so if you like the change, hate the change, or are indifferent, let me know.

As of now, all is quiet on the Devils front. The roster will be completed sometime before Oct. 1, but here are two guys that they have signed.

Matt Cohen became the first player to officially sign a contract with the Trenton Devils two weeks ago. He played nine games with the Titans last year (0 points and 8 PIMs), and will start his first professional season in the ECHL in '07-'08.
Tony Zancanaro played in eight games with the Titans last year (1G, 2A) and signed a contract with the T-Devils a day after Cohen.
