The Eagles

As promised in this week's View from the Sidelnes, here is my prediction for the 2008 record for the Eagles.

First off, I wsa listening to Mike and Mike the other morning talking about the NFL Schedule. They had a couple of thoughts. One was having New Orleans play a game in England. They said it wasn't right for the Saints to lose a home game because New Orleans is still recovring from Katrina. While I agree it's not good to lose a home game in any sport, perhaps the powers-to-be in the NFL hope by having the Saints play overseas, some extra money might come there way.

Second, they talked about who the Cowboys were playing in their final game at Texas Stadium, Baltimore, saying there was no attachment or rivalry in that one. It's the Cowboys, who cares.

Third, they also noted that for the fourth straight year the Colts and New England playing in week nine, after the World Series. Kind of tired of New England.

Here goes with the Eagles.

While I still think they need a wide receiver, aka playmaker to go with B West, it should be a banner year.

Through the first six games, the only ones that worry me are week two, the trip to Big D and the following week, a home game with Pittsburgh. I could see 5-1, no worse than 4-2 after six.

As for the next six games, there's a Thanksgiving night game with Arizona on the NFL Network. The big game during that stretch is a home game with the Super Bowl champion Giants. The New York football Giants got hot at the end of the season. We'll see what happens this year, but 5-1 is possible again through that stretch.

The worst stretch of games might be the final four -- at the Giants, Cleveland, at Washington and that great final game of the season with those Cowboys.

Right now, I see the Eagles perhaps no worse than 12-4.
