Police force adds four
The Coatesville Police Department has hired four new police officers, leaving just one vacancy in the department.
All for officers have earned their state law enforcement certification, and each was hired under the city's provisional hiring process. Chief Matthews said he expects the lone opening will be filled by someone selected from the newly compiled civil service eligibility list.

it was ironic and almost a bit comical to hear Matthews say that each officer was Act 120 certified as he introduced them. then you realize how sad that is....
Perhaps we should look at the reasons why there are so many openings instead of being so proud that you can fill them.
Did anyone get the survey in the mail from Dr. Teresa Lee Powell?
I filled it out and mailed it back in. I needed extra space for all I had to say about "life in Coatesville"
Anyone attend the RDA meeting last night? Anything good come out of it?
Folks should be aware that there have been several ROBBERIES in the 3rd ave. and Chestnut st. area recently. A home was broken into while the people were home and robbed. also 2 hispanic men were robbed at gun point while trying to get into their car, (and on payday.) And last but not least a hispanic girl was raped behind a building. These events won't be in the newspaper for what ever reason but I think the citizens should know about it so they can use more caution. Watch who is around you.
Just let them try to mess with 2nd ave as we are law abidding citizens who will protect ourselves if the cops can't .
