PLAYER TO WATCH: ACADEMY PARK'S DEVON CAIN
But Cain, a senior shooting guard at Park, is a rising star in Delaware County. He is averaging 25.5 points per game for the Knights (2-1), and caught the eye of a local-college recruiting coordinator in Tuesday's 59-50 loss to Monsignor Bonner. The recruiter was there to see Cain's teammate, senior forward Devin Hunter. But he came away pleased with what he saw in Cain.
Can you blame him?
Cain has scored at least 23 points in the Knights' first three games. His season-high came Tuesday, when he scored 30 points in the loss to Bonner. Cain has struck for 10 3-pointers so far, and has shown a proficiency from shooting downtown.
Park coach Rick Pergolini speaks very highly of Cain's ability. I get the feeling other coaches will be following suit throughout the season.
