Philly commish cuffs and stuffs

One of the Roundtable's loyal, anonymous commenters posted the link and text from a story in Friday's Daily News. It details the arrest of two alleged paperhangers who Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey helped nab Wednesday.

In light of the controversy around Police Chief William Matthews and the protracted pursuit of his state law enforcement certification, I debated making this a post, concerned it could be construed as some kind of editorial commentary.

It's not.

Fire department in hot seat

City officials are contemplating major changes to Coatesville's Fire Department.
“There are numerous organizational issues,” affecting the department, City Manager Harry Walker reported during last week’s City Council meeting.
This comes two weeks after it was revealed department’s overtime expenses already have surpassed the budget estimate for the entire year.

Sold!

The city netted a cool $214,000-plus from Friday's auction of city- and RDA-owned properties.

Assistant City Manager Kirby Hudson, who coordinated the auction, said afterward he was “delighted” with the results.
“And you can print that in capital letters,” Hudson said. “(The sale of these properties) alleviates the city from having to worry about the upkeep for these lots, keeping them free of trash and debris.”
